            30.08.2026 – Cheetahs

Published by Gemma Stockmans on September 6, 2026

Today was another unforgettable day out on the Atlantic, with some amazing encounters around Madeira!

All of our tours were lucky enough to see short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus). These impressive members of the dolphin family are powerful deep divers, mainly feeding on squid and other prey found in the deep ocean.

Despite their size, pilot whales can move incredibly fast through the water — almost like the cheetahs of the ocean!

We were also joined by Atlantic spotted dolphins and bottlenose dolphins, with both species seen travelling alongside the pilot whales. What an incredible sight!

And to make the day even more special, we encountered these magnificent giants three times in one day.

Another truly memorable day on the Atlantic — we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
