            30.03.2026 – Human watcher

Published by Fatima Kutzschbach on April 5, 2026

This morning, our guests were closely observed by two different species of dolphins. Not all dolphins are the same. Some people think they’re all interactive with boats. That’s not the case. Some seek contact with us humans, while others are more reserved. Short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis), our winter dolphins, and Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), our summer dolphins, are curious and sociable. Our guests experienced this firsthand this morning.

At midday, we saw both the small and the large. Common dolphins were swimming around in the observation area of the Fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus). Although our guests had a good view of this large whale, it ultimately disappeared quite quickly. Perhaps it found the attention overwhelming.
