An enormous advantage of our work, is the encounter with guests who are just as nature lovers as we are. What could be better than sharing such a gift of nature? It increases the joy many times over! Thank you very much, dear guests!
Although it seems so easy to have such wonderful encounters with the marine mammals as we have experienced many times today, it is important to understand that we are dealing with wild animals on our tours. Nothing is self-evident, everything is voluntary! From our side, we can do our best to provide guests with an unforgettable experience while implementing our philosophy of respectful whale watching. But ultimately everything depends on the behavior of the animals, their interest in an interaction. During our encounters with the Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus), the Pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) and the Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), there was much cause for joy and deep gratitude on our different trips!
We saw tail breaches; spy hops; the elegant descent into the blue depths; we experienced curious approaches; heard the intense breathing of the whales; we observed Pilot whales moving in dense groups through the sea together; we admired this beautiful, light-colored Pilot whale; we saw Bottlenose dolphins performed amazing leaps … there were the big ones and the very, very little ones …
It amazes me again and again how trusting these beautiful beings are. There is no need for them to contact us and yet they do it in their unique way.
Therefore it is natural to appreciate these moments of happiness as a gift of theses marine mammals, as a godsend. My heart sends a big thank you to these wonderful animals. And I’m sure, the same happened to our guests and the crew :)!
With all the beauty, it is also our responsibility to draw attention to the opportunities to protect these animals … please sign the petitions in our Marine Protection section … a big step towards win-win 🙂
