Arctic storms have been quite frequent during the beginning of winter, pushing some considerable ocean swells through the North Atlantic, only stopping at the coastlines, taking an average of 5 days to arrive here in Madeira. During our afternoon trip we could already see and feel the passing of these moving masses of water while observing a pod of Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) and a rather lonesome Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus).
