During the month of January and beginning of this month, the hull of the Ribeira Brava was freshly painted, mechanical adjustments were done and some sections of the upper deck were replaced, aiming towards another year of smooth sailing in the southwest of Madeira. The afternoon trip started with some wind blowing from the Southeast making the spotting of cetaceans a bit harder. Luckily after sailing upwind, our spotter found Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) further to the west. Our position at that time allowed us to turn easily and head towards the sighting area, with wind and waves pushing us towards the dolphins. Although most of the animals did not show much interest in the boat, some of the adult dolphins did come close to inspect the hull of the Ribeira Brava.
