            09.08.2026 – Babies

Published by Gemma Stockmans on August 16, 2026

Today was another unforgettable day on the Atlantic, with calm seas, excellent conditions, and fantastic wildlife encounters on all of our trips. We were lucky enough to spot a Bryde’s whale (Balaenoptera edeni) on both our morning and afternoon tours.

On all of our tours, our guests had the pleasure of watching the wonderfully playful Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). These energetic dolphins are always a favourite, and seeing them racing through the waves, socialising, and playing around the boat is a truly special experience.

Atlantic spotted dolphins have an equally fascinating family life. Females give birth to one calf at a time, after a pregnancy of around 11–12 months. Newborn calves remain close to their mothers, learning essential behaviours and gradually developing the skills they need to navigate, feed and socialise within their pod.

Seeing these magnificent giants twice in one day made for another truly memorable day on the Atlantic, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
