            Altruistic dolphins

Published by lobosonda on January 9, 2017

Dolphins are empathic and altruistic animals. When members of a pod die, the rest of the dolphins will stay with the dead to mourn. Dolphins also stay with injured group members to help them. And if a mother dies and leaves a calf behind, dolphins have no problem of adopting a little dolphin as their own baby.

Dolphin’s empathy extends across species-barriers. There are many accounts of dolphins carrying humans to the surface to breathe, dolphins protecting humans from sharks, dolphins leading stranded whales back to sea, and helping injured seals back to swim.
