Today’s trips were filled with incredible encounters with Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). Our guests had the amazing opportunity to watch these energetic and playful dolphins swimming alongside the boat, racing through the waves and interacting with one another.

Atlantic spotted dolphins are highly social animals that live in family groups called pods. Mothers and calves share a particularly strong bond, with young calves staying close to their mothers while learning how to swim, feed and communicate with the rest of the group.

Their groups can vary greatly in size. Sometimes we encounter just a few dolphins, while on other occasions, several groups come together to form schools of dozens or even hundreds of dolphins. Seeing them travelling and playing together across the Atlantic is a truly unforgettable sight.

Every encounter is different, and today’s sightings gave our guests a wonderful glimpse into the fascinating social lives of these beautiful dolphins.
