            19.07.2026 – Speeds

Published by Gemma Stockmans on July 25, 2026

Today was another unforgettable day on the Atlantic, with calm seas and fantastic wildlife encounters on both of our trips. Our morning adventure was filled with amazing sightings of Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) and Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus). Atlantic spotted dolphins can reach speeds of up to 37 km/h, making them agile and fast swimmers. The Short-finned pilot whales can still swim at speeds of around 32 km/h when travelling or avoiding danger. Our afternoon excursion brought even more excitement; with sightings the Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) can reach impressive speeds of up to 35 km/h during fast swimming. Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h, making them one of the fastest dolphin species in the world. Every trip on the Atlantic is unique, and today reminded us just how diverse and fascinating marine life can be. From the graceful pilot whales to the playful bottlenose dolphins and the lightning-fast striped dolphins, it was a day full of unforgettable encounters. We look forward to seeing what tomorrow’s ocean adventure will bring!
