
Wow, you hear about mass tourism here and there. But actually experiencing it is a whole different story. Especially in a place where you wouldn’t expect it. The sea! Seven nautical miles off the coast of Madeira, there were Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), more Atlantic spotted dolphins, and on the way back, yet more Atlantic spotted dolphins. Absolute dolphin mass tourism. 😉
However, I don’t want to leave out the Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) that were staying close to the coast. I wonder if our guests wondered whether they would have been better off saving the cost of the tour and watching from land? Well, not quite! It was definitely beautiful, though.
