Meet Dalene

Dalene spent most her life in South Africa, (51 years in total!) before finally returning to her birth place Madeira in 2019. In South Africa, Dalene earned her experience in many different fields including secretarial, receptionist, debt controlling, and running a workshop where services are done to vehicles and trucks.
An avid sport fan, she even played football for a ladies football team and later became president of the football club and managed it for 10 years with 32 teams under her wing.

In August/September 2021 Dalene worked at Lobosonda on a temporary basis and was asked to join the crew in May 2023 where she immediately jumped at the opportunity. She chose to work at Lobosonda because she loves meeting new people and is always happy to see happy customers returning from our trips. She also cherishes the company for its professional, knowledgeable approach and the importance of the clients safety for the team. She also appreciates our responsible approach to whale-watching, being the only company to date in Madeira to have received the approval certificate from the World Cetacean Alliance.

Dalene believes that  the ocean is a place that connects her and many others to animals that we all love. She therefore does not have a favourite cetacean, she simply loves them all!
