We commenced the day with our snorkelling trip, where our delight was heightened by the presence of the Atlantic spotted dolphin (Stenella frontalis). Graceful and agile, they swam alongside us along the rope line, gliding through the waves and leaving a sense of wonder in their wake.
As the clock struck 2:00 PM, a remarkable spectacle unfolded: pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) made their grand entrance. These majestic marine mammals, renowned for their impressive size and distinctive appearance, graced the scene alongside charismatic Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). Witnessing them in separate sightings is captivating, but together, they create an awe-inspiring panorama. The harmonious coexistence of pilot whales and Bottlenose dolphins painted a mesmerizing tableau against the backdrop of the vast Atlantic.
These Monday sightings in Madeira stand as a testament to the unparalleled beauty of the marine world, where the Atlantic spotted dolphin, pilot whales, and Bottlenose dolphins orchestrate a symphony of life beneath the waves.
