Approaching the end of the 2018, most of the December sightings have been of Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhyncus) and occasionally some groups of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). Either close together or in separate groups these Odontoceti species have also been the most researched on. Particularly during this year with the placing of “Limpet tags” on two juvenile Short-finned pilot whales, data was continuously transmitted for a few months establishing migrational routes and time that this specific groups took to cover these areas. All this will certainly help create a better understanding of these cetaceans, not only for research institutions but also to the open public….
