23.10.2015 – Whalecome back on the ocean!

Published by lobosonda on October 26, 2015

Finally, we could go out on the sea, we had enough rain and storm. So everybody was happy. Interesting to find out, what the whales and dolphins would feel about that. So accordingly to that, our expectations were high for the first day on sea after the break due to bad weather. And well, our expectation were fulfilled very well. Already a short moment after leaving the marina, our spotters called: spermwhales ahead. The largest of the toothed whales (Odontoceti) were at surface to breathe a relax between their dives. Spermwhales are champions in deep diving (depths until 2000-3000 m) and can hold their breath for a LONG time (until an hour). So regarding this, there is always some luck needed to find them at surface.
