Pilot whale babies (Globicephala macrorhynchus) were the stars on our tour today! They were playful and curious. Turning to the side, flipper up, swimming on their backs, splashing around and sneaking cheekily away from mom were on the schedule of the little Pilot whale calves. Given their size, their birthday wasn’t long ago! But a birthday was celebrated very quietly and (almost) secretly on board today.
There are always good wishes for a birthday: Happy Birthday, birthday woman! We wish you a WONDERFUL, happy and healthy new year! And it seemed like these whales celebrated life with you and us today. 🙂
Because we love the marine mammals so much, we also send our best wishes to today’s Pilot whales and all other sea creatures that there would be cleaner and quieter seas; plenty of food; health; always a long distance to fishing nets and boat propellers, good friends; freedom and such beautiful encounters with land mammals as with us today.
Of course, I cannot suppress the two Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), which were roaming through the blue with two Pilot whales. So they already seem to have good friends. 😉
