We had two nice encounters very close to the harbor today. A Loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) showed itself to us before shyly diving into the depths. I really like these solo travelers through the oceans. They don’t have an easy life on their journey across the oceans. Only one in 1,000 of them will reach reproductive age. They cross the Atlantic twice. They are always on their own.
Shortly afterwards we met our coastal Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), who rewarded us with lots of jumps. Some of these dolphins appeared to be intensely engaged with each other. Spring fever was in the air. Our guests had a good time on the sea. That’s how it should be.
