            18.09.2021 – Along the coast

Published by Fatima Kutzschbach on September 24, 2021

At the moment, it often happens that we have an excessively long tour on the Ribeira Brava. So today too. The Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) reported by the spotter moved towards Funchal. It was only before Faja dos Padres that we were able to observe these dolphins. Our guests took it easy and enjoyed the trip. On our return we went back along the coast and the colorful town of Ponta do Sol was a great eye-catcher as always. Our guests could also see Madeira’s natural “car wash”, a waterfall on the old coastal road between Madalena do mar and Ponta do Sol, through which one can drive by car, from their sea perspective.

There is an old cinema in Ponta do Sol. It is only rarely used on special occasions. There is a large hall with a stage and benches that are reminiscent of park benches. In the middle of the room hangs a large portrait of the founder of the cinema, which opened in 1933. All of this has flair and is reminiscent of the wonderful film “Cinema Paradiso” (1988) with Salvatore Cascio and Philippe Noiret. A quiet, well-worth seeing film with wonderful pictures, incredibly beautiful music and a noticeable love of the cinema. If you look at the film, which is set in a small town in Italy, you could almost think that it is very similar to Ponta do Sol. I think this film is a must for every cinema lover. For this reason, it is also worth looking at the place Ponta do Sol with its romantic flair.

Fortunately, the Ribeira Brava is a boat that you can get up on and walk around. Our three youngest guests made good use of that today.
