In contrast to the choppy conditions on the ocean these last days, our day began marvellously with a sunny morning tour aboard our Stenella that was further sweetened by a small group of Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). These curious dolphins never fail to light up the mood on board and swam inquisitively towards our boats to take a better look at their admirers.
The ocean was a little more ruffled this afternoon making it hard for our spotter to find animals. Both the Stenella and the Ribeira Brava searched far and wide for animals and, while our zodiac unfortunately returned without a sighting, our traditional boat got lucky. Ironically, it was Silvana, a frequent guest and good friend of the company, who found the very discrete group of spotted dolphins near Madalena do Mar on her last day of holidays here in Madeira for the summer. What an achievement! Our guests were all happy about the sighting and Silvana enjoyed it the same way she always does; with a silent but happy smile!
Experiences out on the ocean leave our guests with all the feels; some are lost for words, others exclaim in joy! Some beam with joy at seeing a dolphin for the first time, others continue to smile after the 100th time. Silvana has seen dolphins countless times and smiles during every single encounter, which is one of the reasons why our team loves welcoming her on board!
