We often see Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) on our tours, as we did this morning. This species is one of the most widespread dolphin species in the world. It lives in warm and temperate waters in both coastal areas and open seas. It is particularly common in the coastal regions of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. In Europe, the bottlenose dolphin is common in the North Sea and the Mediterranean. It is also found in the coastal waters around the USA, South America, Australia and Japan. Some populations live in estuaries or lagoons, others inhabit the open sea.
