Today’s tours treated our guests to sightings of three incredible cetacean species: the Bryde’s whale (Balaenoptera edeni), the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), and the Atlantic spotted dolphin (Stenella frontalis).
The Bryde’s whale is one of the larger whale species found around Madeira, reaching lengths of 12–15 metres and weights of 12–25 tonnes.
The bottlenose dolphin is a powerful and highly intelligent dolphin, measuring 2.5–4 metres in length and weighing between 150–650 kilograms.
Atlantic spotted dolphins are smaller and more agile, growing to 1.6–2.3 metres long and weighing approximately 100–140 kilograms.
These encounters highlight the remarkable diversity of marine life that inhabits Madeira’s waters and make every trip a unique experience.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on board today. We look forward to welcoming you again soon for more unforgettable wildlife encounters.
