Today was Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) day. Even though it took a while on some tours to spot one, all of us had the privilege of seeing these majestic animals.
In the evening, there was an added bonus. The position of the sun made the blow appear in rainbow colours. Wow! Incidentally, you can tell from a distance whether it is a sperm whale by looking at the blow. While the blow of this large toothed whale goes forward at a 45-degree angle, the blow of baleen whales, which incidentally have two blowholes, goes straight up.
