At the moment, many are asking themselves whether they should choose a vacation trip or not. How the decision is made is a very personal matter.
Marine mammals also have travelers and non-travelers. Our guests on today’s Stenella tour had the pleasure of watching resident and seasonal animals, on our southwest coast. The Atlantic Spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) are our summer dolphins and therefore animals that move to warmer areas in winter. So this species are ocean travelers. The situation is different for the group of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). These animals stay at home and that’s Madeira’s coast. With the Pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) we can meet travelers and non-travelers because, even if we have groups that are considered resident here, we also have migrating groups.
