Our Tuesday morning started just right. We had an amazing show of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursi0ps truncatus) just playing along our boat as we sailed through the Atlantic. We could see their white bellies and hear them exhale! As the day moved on we found a curious groups of Common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) and their calves, moms were really protective but still showed us them proudly. Calves were one more young than the other. You could feel the excitement and energy flowing throughout our guests as sightings got better. Finally, after looking in the vast ocean, two amazing and elegant Fin whales (Balaenoptera physalus) appeared. The second biggest mammals in the world were swimming just meters away from us. It is not rare to see Fin whales in pairs just swimming through Madeira, but this sighting was special as the made noises while swimming we couldn’t stop thinking, how lucky they were to found each other, to navigate together without fear through the waves. Sometimes all we need is a good company to be a little bit more brave.
