It was a long trip this morning, but our guests had a close, intense encounter with Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus). As we went out there were white foam caps on the horizon, but by the time we got back they had spread. So the return journey was a bit bumpy for us. Sometimes the weather calms down again. So we hoped that we would still be able to do the second tour with the Ribeira Brava. Unfortunately this was not possible. We had to cancel. In such cases we realize how dependent we are on nature’s benevolence. But the safety and well-being of our guests comes first. Our Stenella is a different case; it can often still be used when our Ribeira Brava has to stay in port.
