There are some days where we may as well have not checked the weather forecast since the reality can be very different to what was predicted for the day. The wind constantly changed direction throughout the day, starting as a Northeast wind and ending as a Southwest wind; a complete turnaround. The unstable conditions whipped up the ocean and it sure wasn’t easy to find animals on the choppy ocean today.
While we didn’t have luck finding cetaceans during our morning tour, our team managed to encounter a small group of Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) in the afternoon. Spotted dolphins really do save the day in such situations since they are so interactive that we all forget the windy seas rocking our boat and simply enjoy these precious moments with the animals
