After a wet day without tours we went out to sea again today. We had to drive far, but on the morning tour we saw Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) happily riding in the bow wave and Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) passing through our blue office.
At midday we had pilot whales who took a little rest.
What do these different looking species of today have in common? They are toothed whales that belong to the category of dolphins. What makes them different? For example, their appearance, social structure (hierarchy, matriarchy), size, color and behavior.
