My day at Lobosonda consisted of a snorkeling trip this morning, where we searched for Atlantic spotted dolphins and Common dolphins to encounter in the water. During our search we stumbled upon a large Pilot whale family in the company of a small pod of large Bottlenose dolphins. These animals often travel together so we occasionally have the pleasure of observing these intelligent cetaceans mingling with one another. Today was particularly special because of the presence of several Pilot whale calves, including one TINY calf that charmed the whole boat. This spectacular sighting made up for the unfortunate fact that we weren’t able to snorkel with dolphins this morning and proves that nature always has some remarkable surprises up her sleeve.
