Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) frolicked in the waves today. They were moving quite quickly. A juvenile animal was in the mood to make a lot of faxes. Marine mammals can also be in a playful mood. In one situation, the juvenile jumped backwards out of the water. The special drawing in the chest area can be clearly seen on one of the photos.
The playfulness in this beautiful observation is a reminder of how important it is for well-being to take life lightly. Sometimes it is easy to forget that in the hectic everyday life. Such reminders are very valuable. And what could be better than being inspired by nature?
In the afternoon, we had as well nice sightings with Short-finned pilot whales. There were also a few Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) to observe. Our spotter discovered some breaches 9 nm offshore. We went there with the Stenella, hoping to see the animals. Unfortunately, we didn’t see it anymore. If it was a beaked whale, it has certainly already dived to its feeding grounds.
