01.03.2024 – Hello March!

Hello March! What an absolutely breathtaking way to kick off the month – with nature’s grand spectacle unfolding right before our eyes! Today’s sightings were nothing short of spectacular, painting the ocean canvas with the vibrant strokes of life and wonder.

Imagine this: the vast expanse of the ocean, its surface shimmering under the warm rays of the sun, as if it’s preparing for a grand unveiling. And then, as if on cue, they appeared – the majestic Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus), a true testament to the sheer magnificence of nature. Not just one or two, but twelve of these gentle giants graced us with their presence today! And as if that wasn’t magical enough, among them, we were blessed to witness not one, but two adorable calves, frolicking alongside their mothers, adding an extra layer of joy and wonder to the scene.

But wait, the show didn’t end there! Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) made their grand entrance. A small group, yet their presence was just as enchanting, their playful antics and graceful movements a sight to behold. And guess what? They too had their own little ones next to each other, adding an extra sprinkle of cuteness to the already mesmerizing spectacle.

As we stood on the boat, surrounded by the vastness of the ocean and the rainbow before us, it was impossible not to feel a surge of gratitude and awe. These encounters are not just mere sightings; they are moments of connection, reminders of the beauty and diversity that our planet holds, and a humbling invitation to cherish and protect it.

So here’s to March, a month that begins with a resounding hello from the creatures of the deep. May it be a month filled with wonder, adventure, and endless opportunities to marvel at the wonders of nature.
