The Atlantic was void of animals this morning. Our spotter searched far and wide for Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), our usual saviours, for this mornings snorkelling tour but wasn’t able to locate any cetaceans on the vast Atlantic Ocean. Only a small Portuguese Man O’War (Physalis physalis) was seen drifting on the flat ocean but our guests were happy about the time spent at sea nonetheless.
The dolphins arrived in the southern waters for our afternoon tours and guests on board both boats were able to enjoy sightings with Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) as well as Rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis), the latter being a less encountered species that prefers the summer months. Today was proof that some days can start out as difficult and challenging, but may end up being just as enjoyable as all the others! Our blue office is just as exciting as she is unpredictable and we are grateful for every minute out there.
