The behavior of the Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) was somewhat different today. We know them interactively and always in a surfing mood. But on this morning tour, they allowed themselves to be asked. Well, there was a good reason for that! When we got to the sighting area, the Spotted were busy with their fishy breakfast. Before they devoted themselves to us, the bellies were filled first. First things first! If we were hungry and had the choice to go to the buffet first or to meet friends, we would probably prefer the food and then, full and satisfied, have a good time with our friends. So did the Atlantic spotted dolphins.
In today’s cover picture, you can see the torn and kinked dorsal fin of a Spotted dolphin. The dorsal fin of the dolphins is used to identify individuals. Saving such a photo is interesting because this fin is easily recognizable.
In the afternoon it was unfortunately not possible to go out due to the weather.
