06.08.2025 – Are bottlenose dolphins Swifties?

The day started with Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) and Rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis). In the afternoon, the Stenella group found some Blainville’s beaked whales (Mesoplodon densirostris) but the Ribeira Brava had no luck. After a no sightings trip, our team was really hoping to find some animals for the last trip. Sometimes we have to resort to superstition. We put on some Taylor Swift in preparation for the trip to boost team morale and because the power of Taylor Swift has made Bottlenose dolphins appear for me in the past. Low and behold, we finished the day with Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus).
