What a beautiful morning. Sometimes everything runs smoothly. Travelling on the Ribeira Brava, our wonderful traditional fishing boat, invites you to relax, to breathe out a little more than you breathe in, to take in the ocean and let your mind wander. Just the experience of going out on our Ribeira Brava is worth the trip. Today we were also richly blessed by the sea. Various groups of Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) rested calmly on the surface of the sea, with a large school of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) lingering around them. We were able to observe small calves that kept close to their mother’s side. The Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba) kept a their distence towards us, but this is simply a reminder that our friends in the blue office should make their own decisions as to whether they are willing to interact with us. After all, we are guests in this marine habitat. Every encounter is a gift that we can gratefully accept.
