At the moment the weather isn’t playing out as well as we would like. Finding dolphins between the waves is an effort of concentration. Our spotter found them this morning and we were able to observe Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). However, marine mammals must also be in our area in order to be discovered. Unfortunately, despite an intensive search, we were unable to do so on our two midday tours. The evening tour had to be canceled due to the wind, which had now increased.
Bottlenose dolphins usually live in groups. They also form subgroups. Sometimes male Bottlenose dolphins form lifelong friendship bonds. Another important subgroup are the females and their calves. These groups are called rearing groups or kindergartens.
