15.08.2023 – Baby dolphins on the go!

Published by Paula Thake on August 23, 2023

Our day began with the awe-inspiring presence of the Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis), their distinct markings and graceful movements captivating our senses. Did you know that these dolphins are not just cute but also incredibly intelligent? They are known for their complex social structures and love for leaping out of the water – it’s like they’re putting on their own dolphin Olympics! We even got to see them swimming with their fast calves who seemed to be in a rush to breach at every wave they surfed. It was the most heartwarming scene ever!

As the sun reached its peak, the charismatic Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) joined the party, treating us to an enchanting display of their acrobatics and social interactions. They are famous for their mischievous smiles and knack for riding the bow waves of boats – talk about getting a free ride while having a blast! Although the last rays of sun did not allow us to have the best pictures of this guys, our memory was enough to capture their curiosity just next to our boat.

During the tours of the day the continued to amaze us with their synchronized swimming and playful behavior, reminding us of the sheer joy that these intelligent creatures bring to our marine experiences.
