30.09.2018 – Boat swing

Some go to the funfair for a small, airy adventure. Some people remember the days of childhood and the pleasure in the boat swing. Where does this idea come from? From a sailor 😉 ? We had this quite unexpected today, in the form of a swell that was not predicted. So it was not possible for us to go very far out. The best way to trust the trained assessment of our captain, Senhor Luis. He has spent more time at sea than in land during his life. If he decides that it does not go further in the wind and wave direction, then that is word … and the word of the captain has on the sea, the absolute shots.

But even closer to the coast, we still were lucky to meet some Pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus). These otherwise so leisurely animals seemed to enjoy the wave spectacle.

In such a sea they like to use the power of the wave to surf. It looked like they really enjoyed it. Incidentally, the Short-fined pilot whales are found in all the oceans between the 50th degree north latitude and the 40th degree south latitude … today, however, they were just ahead of Madeira and we were able to enjoy them.
