29.08.2025 – Almond-toothed dolphins

Today, we didn’t see them on all tours, but on most of them we did see the cute rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis). They are not always there, but when they are, it’s a joy. Rough-toothed dolphins are masters of synchronized swimming. They are very sociable. These dolphins are currently the stars of BBC film recordings that focus on these wonderful dolphins. And they are the “almond-toothed dolphins.” They are called rough-toothed dolphins because their teeth are almond-shaped and have longitudinal grooves. When you stroke them, they feel rough.
