Our traditional boat may not be the fastest boat on the island but it certainly is one of the loveliest boats to observe cetaceans! Its vast wooden deck is a fantastic place to observe the animals from and its colourful bow often gleams at the surface during a sighting. Today the guests aboard our traditional boat were fortunate to enjoy incredible moments with Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) and mighty Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) in the morning and another group of spotted dolphins in the afternoon. The oligotrophic (low nutrient) waters surrounding the archipelago set a perfect stage for such sightings, allowing our guests to fully appreciate the features of these incredible animals.
It was a beautiful day out on the ocean with one of the smallest and biggest representatives of the toothed whales that visit the waters of our archipelago and, as always, they left us all in absolute awe!
