We were finally able to get back out to sea. In the morning we soon had Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) travelling east together with Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus). The family on board, whether large or small, enjoyed these encounters very much. At midday we saw Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) lifting their majestic flukes.
What do the two species have in common? Pilot whales and Sperm whales live in matriarchy. What do all three species have in common? They all belong to the toothed whale category.
