Summer is here! Hot temperatures but a light, refreshing breeze on the sea as we looked out for Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). They went through the blue in second pack. Sometimes they are a bit reserved in such situations. Same today. Nevertheless, they gave us a few short moments.
Afterwards we were allowed to observe some oceanic summer guests. Rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis) appear off Madeira’s coast only occasionally, mostly in summer. We are always very happy about these dolphins. They prefer (sub)tropical waters. With their long flippers, they look almost angelic as they glide through the water. Their reptilian appearance makes them easy to identify. They got their name due to the ridges in their teeth. If you touch it, it feels rough.
Our guests and a birthday guest had a beautiful summer day at sea.
