20.12.2017 – When summer happens in winter

Published by Marlene Cabral on December 29, 2017

Many of our guests prefer to visit Madeira in winter since they might originally come from colder places. This is a nice way to escape winter for a while. We also have seasons here but not as clearly like in England…. Some dolphins’ species prefer to be in this area in summer time, so it is very surprising if we observe a “summer species”, like today, around this time of the year. Today these were the Rough-Toothed dolphins. We had as well Bottlenose dolphins in resting state. During our afternoon trip we had a small group of Bottlenose dolphins. Since these animals were very thin and didn’t seem to be in good health condition we left them alone to avoid more stress for them. After that we had a nice Rough-Toothed dolphin sighting again.
