            19.09.2023 – A day full of dolphins and whales!

            The azure waters of Madeira were nothing short of magical today, gifting us with a day of extraordinary sightings. At first the charismatic Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), the magnificent Pilot Whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus), and the playful Atlantic Spotted Dolphins (Stenella frontalis) graced us with their presence. 

            As we were focused on the water we were able to spot the enigmatic Risso’s Dolphins (Grampus griseus). These captivating creatures, with their scar-covered bodies, are shrouded in mystery. Their presence added an air of wonder and intrigue to the afternoon. Did you know that Risso’s Dolphins are known for their distinct social behavior and intricate vocalizations? These enigmatic creatures are often associated with deep-sea beauty and have an air of mystique surrounding them.

            As the day waned, Blainville’s Beaked Whales (Mesoplodon densirostris). Their appearance was a vivid reminder of the thriving marine life that graces these waters. The elusive Blainville’s Beaked Whales, known for their deep-sea adventures, added an extra layer of fascination to our 

            Today’s encounters were a vivid reminder of the incredible diversity that graces these waters. Let’s cherish and protect this extraordinary ecosystem for generations to come. As we revel in these magical moments, let’s remember that every encounter is a testament to the marvels of the natural world.
