As we left the harbor a rainbow lit up in the northwest. Sometimes we only saw the right and left ends of the natural spectacle, sometimes it showed itself completely, disappeared and reappeared again. Rainbows are atmospheric-optical phenomena. The mostly circular, colored band of light appears in a rain shower illuminated by the sun. The sunlight refracted and reflected in the raindrop creates this natural phenomenon. However, the colorful sighting was the only one today. No dolphins or whales showed up.
