Today our guests had to be patient on the Ribeira Brava before we were able to observe Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). Our captain Pedro spotted them today. It was a long journey to Faja de Ovelha, but it was worth it, the animals were marvellous. On the way there, we saw Cory’s shearwaters and sargassum seagrass, and on the way back a flying fish.
Although flying fish can glide over the waves, they are still primarily sea creatures. They use their flight skills to escape predators. These fish are distributed in tropical and subtropical waters worldwide. They play an important role in the ocean ecosystem.
At midday we drove far, farther than we had in the morning, farther than I can ever remember having been on the Ribeira Brava. But unfortunately the intensive search was not successful.
