Whether we are happy or sad is of course influenced by our external circumstances, among other things. But physical processes and the release of hormones also determine our mood. The most popular are certainly the so-called happiness hormones, which are responsible for our mental and physical well-being. Serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, endorphins, phenethylamine and oxytocin ensure a good mood feeling.
A miracle hormone not yet described in science is the so-called “EnDOLPHIN”. This hormone is only activated in our blue office, the Atlantic. This hormone should not be confused with the rather simple endorphin. The Endolphin activated at sea can do a lot more. It triggers pure feelings of happiness, joy, enthusiasm, fascination, the total being in the here and now. Physical indications are bright eyes, a strong tingling in the stomach, a pleasant warmth in the heart and the complete forgetting of everyday life. So what is the trigger that can activate this miracle hormone? Clearly, the Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) are responsible for these states of joy. Since we had many, many, many of these small, lively, curious species of dolphins around our boat today, you can certainly imagine that much, much, much has been released from this miracle hormone endolphin.
In the afternoon tour, we also had Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus). Of course, Sperm whales also pour out Endolphin, but instead of many small doses, a few larger doses 😉
Thank you spotter, Oli. A really good job! You made a lot of people happy today!
