There are days when it is easier for our spotters to find something. This morning, however, there were no marine mammals to be seen. At midday, our spotter discovered Blaineville’s beaked whales (Mesoplodon densirostris). The males have a tusk protruding from the left and right side of their lower jaw. These tusks are often colonised by barnacles. Then they look like hippie whales. These males are battle-hardened. You can see this from their scratched bodies.
