On our trips today we had different groups of dolphins with Bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic spotted dolphins and at their evening tour, our guests of the Stenella observed also Common dolphins. The midday trip (snorkelling tour at 15.30) stayed unfortunately without sightings. Also this happens from time to time. Because nature follows its own rhythms, influencing the presence and absence of cetaceans. This changes can be weekly, daily and even within a few hours. Insofar every trip is unique, the animals are in a different mood. Dependent on parameters of presence of prey, watertemperature, underwater noise and boat disturbance etc.
Also the time, the animals spent at surface is related to their current behaviour. Are they socializing, do they feed or prey, are they travelling, do they rest etc.? In any case, we have to accept it as it comes and should keep in mind, that it is a privileg being so close to these fascinating marine inhabitants.
