15.07.2015 – Hyroglyphen

Fatima’s Eindrücke: Heute waren sie schüchtern, die Delfine. Sommergäste hatten wir, nämlich die schönen RUNDKOPFDELFINE, die im Laufe ihres Lebens ihre Farbe ändern. Zuvor dunkelgrau, werden sie im Alter weiss. Ihre Körper bekommen im Laufe der Zeit, mehr und mehr Kratzer, die dann wie eine Hieroglyphenschrift aussehen, die die Geschichte eines jeden Tieres erzählt.  Wie wunderschön. Auf der Mittagstour sahen wir zudem ein Grüppchen GEWÖHNLICHER DELFINE und zum Abschluß eine minikleine UNECHTE KARETTSCHILDKROETEN, die neugierig zwischen den Wellen einen schnellen Überblick gewinnen wollte. Am Nachmittag gab es gleich zwei freundlich, aktive Gruppen mit ATLANTISCHEN FLECKENDELFINEN und auf dem Rückweg freuten sich die Gäste über Fliegende Fische, die Crew auch.

Astrid’s Eindrücke: In der Nachmittagstour waren die GEWÖHNLICHER DELFINE wohl am ausruhen oder im “Schlafmodus”; sie wollten wohl ihre Ruhe. Wenig später  fanden wir dank den Informationen vom Späher eine Schule FLECKENDELFINE. Sie waren genau das Gegenteil: kamen in grossen Sprüngen auf unser Boot zu, zeigten sich von ihrer Schokoladenseite, gingen in die Bugwelle und blieben eine ganze Weile bei uns.

Fatimas impressions: Today the dolphins where shy. We had some Summer guests on our first tour: RISSO’S DOLPHINS. This kind of dolphin changes skin colour while they grow older. When they are young their skin is dark grey, as they grow it starts to change until it gets almost completely white. The bodies of the Risso’s dolphins become marked with scratches that look like hieroglyphics that tell each animals story, the older they get more scratches they will have. They are wonderful dolphins, don’t you think?

On our afternoon trip we saw COMMON DOLPHINS and to end the trip we saw a little curious LOGGERHEAD SEA TURTLE. In the afternoon we had two nice and friendly groups of SPOTTED DOLPHINS, on our way back FLYING FISH accompanied us delighting our guests and crew.

Astrids impressions: On our afternoon trip the COMMON DOLPHINS where very relaxed, almost in a “sleepy mode” keeping their distance. After a while our spotter found a pod of SPOTTED DOLPHINS. These dolphins where in a total opposite mood to the common dolphins, they came to us showing of their jumping skills and rode the bow waves for a long while.
