An eventful day full of exciting encounter lies behind us.
In the morning, we could observe the classic leaps of the Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba). They use the fact that the air resistance is lower than that of the water and use this tactic to move faster. The group of Short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) was also extremely sporty. But they sought contact with us and let us admire them extensively.
At noon, there were big surprises in whale shape. Ten Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) drifted relaxed in different groups on the sea surface. However, the Sperm whales did not seem too enthusiastic about the Common dolphins, which approached the whales curiously. They submerged, at least for a little while. But we were lucky, and as soon as the dolphins had gone their way, the large toothed whales showed up again.
In the afternoon we were fortunate, the Sperm whales were still there. This time, however, they headed west closely together. Twelve whales making their way through the waves. They radiated incredible power. Incidentally, Sperm whales have the largest brain in the world. It can weigh up to 9 kg. While we were on our way back, we spotted a Monk seal (Monachus monachus) driving by, but it quickly disappeared.
A day of sea adventures with many happy guests comes to an end.
