Today’s trips had something in common…. Short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus), in all three trips we had them navigating from east to west. It was challenging as the weather conditions out at sea were not the perfect ones but we still managed to find them. In the morning we had them a few miles outside Ponta do Sol alongside with some Short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) but as the day progressed, they were getting further away towards Funchal.
Today was also the day that we welcomed our new guide Horst Schulte on board. He had a taste of how the trips are conducted and the type of weather the Atlantic can throw at us. We wish him a good season and many more good encounters out in the big blue office 🙂
